In spite of competent planning and managing, modern and highly efficient heating installations may suffer from silting, clogging with lime or corrosion damage. This is due mainly to the quality of the water which is stored for heating, and its reactions with substances as used in heating. These problems can be prevented in a simple and effective manner with the corresponding water treatment.

Our public water may be wonderfull for drinking, but it is only partly adapted for filling tanks for heating purposes. Hence existing regulations, EN 14868, VDI regulations 2035, SWKI 97-1 and the UNI-CTI 8065, which give clear directions for the quality of water, concerning the maximum water hardness and the pH value. This also has consequences for possible guarantee claims against the manufacturer of the heating installation. The quality of the water which is stored for heating is one thing. But the materials which are used in heating installations are often responsible for later damage. Thus iron, magnesium, aluminium and silicon favour the emergence of muds from corrosion products. What is called magnetite mud again leads to uncontrollable heating body thermostats, irregularly operating valves and shut off cocks.
This not only increases fuel consumption, but also lessens the life duration of the various components. Not to forget the costs of maintenance and mud cleaning.
With already existing heating systems, the treatment for lessening magnetite mud is therefore especially important.
